Bryan led the Northwest Development Agency for six
years.
He is Pro Chancellor of the University of
Lancaster and a member of the National Learning & Skills
Council.
In 2006 he became a member of the Lake
District National Park Authority and was awarded HRH The Prince of
Wales’ Ambassador Award for the North West. He is also Chair
of the Lowther Castle and Gardens Trust and Chair of the newly
formed Churches Trust for Cumbria.
Other interests include being a Trustee of
National Museums Liverpool, the Non-Executive Chairman of
Westmorland Limited and Chairman of Liverpool Culture
Company. He became Chairman of Peel Media, the company
developing the Mediacity project in Salford in 2008 and this year
he was awarded a CBE in recognition for services to Business and to
the Community in the North West.
Marilyn is the Executive member for Economic Development and

Robin Burgess is chairman of CN Group, a locally owned and run
media business based in Carlisle. It produces two daily titles, 5
weeklies, 3 frees, magazines, associated websites and market
research. The Group also has 9 radio stations covering Northern
Ireland, the North West and the Midlands.
John is a member of Cumbria County Council and Chair of its

Peter is Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the
University of Cumbria, which
employs 1750 people and has an enrolment of 15000 students.
Formerly Pro-Vice Chancellor at London South
Bank University, Vice-Principal of Bolton Institute of Higher
Education and Dean of the Faculty of European, International and
Social Studies at Thames Valley University, Peter has over
twenty-five years teaching and research experience in American
Studies and History across a range of institutions from FE College
to Ivy League.
Victoria as the General Manager of Hoopers store in
Carlisle, transforming the company’s latest acquisition and develop
the potential of the business, overseeing and project managing a
major investment and refurbishment programme.
Ian is the Executive Director of Corporate Resources for the
Northwest Development Agency,
responsible for finance, risk, legal issues, property, ICT and
procurement, and for overall co-ordination of Cumbria on behalf of
the agency. He was Finance Director for the then Lancashire
Polytechnic (now University of Lancashire) from for ten years
before becoming Pro Vice Chancellor from 1998 to 2003.
Roger is Chairman of Cumbria Vision. He has an extensive CV
ranging from being special adviser to Tony Blair on Europe and an
adviser to the President of the European Commission, to a founding

Mike is Leader of Carlisle City Council, and the Executive

John is co-owner of Carlisle United Football Club and
responsible for the day to day running of the business. He is a
Director of Systems Group and Cowens Limited, a Board Member of
Carlisle College, Chairman of the Carlisle Cathedral Development
Trust; and Chairman of the Carlisle Cathedral Development Trust
Finance Committee.
For around twenty years Brian has been involved in town centre
development schemes of an office and retail nature and for the last
eight years has been Chairman and owner of Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd.
Kingmoor Park is a flagship development and a key strategic
employment site in Cumbria currently employing some 1700 people
with the potential to increase employee numbers to 5000 following
delivery of current development proposals including the Carlisle
Northern Development Route and the associated "Hub"
development.
More recently Brian has been actively involved in the Academy
programme within Carlisle and has pledged, together with Andrew
Tinkler of WA Developments Ltd, £2m to ensure the transformation of
both St Aidan’s High School and Morton School into top class
Academies.
